President Hinckley Speaks to Our Family

I love this quote and feel him speaking to me, and to all in our family.

“You are good. But it is not enough just to be good. You must be good for something. You must contribute good to the world. The world must be a better place for your presence. And the good that is in you must be spread to others. …
“In this world so filled with problems, so constantly threatened by dark and evil challenges, you can and must rise above mediocrity, above indifference. You can become involved and speak with a strong voice for that which is right” (Brigham Young University devotional, Marriott Center, 17 Sept. 1996).

I love that quote as well. Once while wallowing in self pity I was reminded that life is not about what others do for us, but what we do for others. Keeping this perspective is not always easy but it makes life easier.

Thanks! I too like this quote. During Pres. Hinckley's funeral, I found myself wondering if I have been living up to the potential that he has seen in all of us. You know there are a lot of "B"'s and some standing to do!
Thanks for the thoughtful posts!
